The following is a step-by-step plan of how to have a relationhip with Christ
(allowing Him to be Lord and Savior of your life).
God Loves You!
BUT
THERE'S A PROBLEM
You have violated God's Law and His Holiness (by sinning), thus you are not allowed to enter into His Kingdom.
BUT
God desires you to be Saved!
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10b
The A,B,C's of salvation:
A- Admit that you are a sinner.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
You are a sinner because you have violated God's LAW.
Ask yourself the following questions:
2. Have you ever stolen something? (8th Commandment)
3. Have you ever lied about something? (9th Commandment)
4. Have you desired something that did not belong to you? (10th Commandment)
If you answered YES (to any of these) then you need to know:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
FACT
This "death" has to be paid (by someone)!
WHO WILL PAY THE DEBT?
The GOOD NEWS...
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
The word "repent" means to change one's mind (example: if you steal, stop stealing).
B- Believe in Jesus as Lord & Savior
Now for many this sounds simple but the Bible teaches (both O.T. and N.T.) that belief involves loving God
with all your heart, soul and might (Deut.6:5; Matt.22:37). To follow Christ means that He must be the first and only
priority in your life. This is why Jesus instructed those who wanted to follow Him that they must pick up there cross
and follow Him. Let me ask, what is the purpose of a cross? Yes, the purpose of the cross is death! If you want to
live then you must die. What does that mean? It means that you must deny yourself (and all your desires) and put
Christ first. That means that you MUST accept Christ (alone) for salvation (Rom.4:1-8; Eph.2:8-9).
It is not Jesus and your church for salvation. It is not Jesus and your good works for salvation, it is Christ alone!
C- Confess Jesus as Lord
Now that you understand that your sin has separated you from God and violated His holiness. Now that you
understand what it means to “believe in Christ” (alone) for salvation, you need to bow to His throne and
confess Him as Lord (Acts 4:12; Rom.10:9-10). This means that you must put your faith in Jesus and ask
Him to forgive you of your many sins if you want to enter into His Kingdom. Many people believe that
if they don’t follow Christ then they are in charge of their own life but the reality is they are following someone else.
FACT: The Bible says one cannot serve two masters (Matt.6:24), who do you think they're serving? Who will you serve?
